Pat just sent me these pics of their travels through Shanghai ... Enjoy! Carolyn
Maeve excited to be flying to China to meet her mei mei.

In our hotel room in Shanghai, Maeve holds up her 'Shanghai Secret' book and proudly points out the window ... She's finally arrived.

Family pic in Old Shanghai, a fabulous preserved area of centuries old architectures, labyrinthine properties, interwoven shopping pathways ... Wow!

Pairs of Male and Female lions flank the entries to passages in Old Shanghai ... Here, Maeve touches the baby being protected by a female lion.

Out on the East Nanjing road, a long street of shops, restaurants, hotels and parks in the heart of Shanghai---closed to cars but crowded with pedestrians and with meandering open-sided slow-moving street trains that people hop on and off---we found an area of fabulous sculptures ... Here's Maeve posing for her friends and family back in Canada.

In one of the high end malls of East Nanjing, Maeve buddies up to a friendly looking pig.

Another family pic along the river; across the river is the Pudong side of Shanghai, with its famous skyline. The rocket shaped structure at center is the Oriental Pearl Tower, currently the tallest building in China.

The APEC Center across the river in Pudong, where two worlds come together.

At the base of the Oriental Pearl Tower. Is Maeve ready to ascend? Yes she is!

View from the top of the tower ... Can see the buildings Tom Cruise's stunt doubles leapt between in Mission Impossible 3.

Unlike the CN Tower's small glass panel to step on, the Oriental Pearl offers visitors an entire floor that's see through, encircling the whole tower. Here Maeve takes her first look straight down.

Baba and Popo hold onto Maeve as she peers down at the ground far below.

The view between Baba and Mama's shoes.

Maeve at the far edge, surrounded entirely by sky. "Come on, grandpa Gungun, don't be afraid ... Look, I'm waaay out here!" (This act of fearlessness did not convince Gungun to do more than place a single foot out on the glass floor, before retreating to safety :)
